James Howlles is suing Newport city council for $647 million after they block him to recover his hard drive that contains almost 8,000 Bitcoin from a landfill.
James Howells, who lives in the UK, accidentally discarded his hard drive and after many attempts city council continually denied him access due to environmental concerns, The drive holds 8,000 Bitcoin, which is worth almost $500 million.
He has been requesting for years to excavate 100,000 tons of trash to recover the drive, even offering the council 10% of the Bitcoin upon recovering. He believes that there is an 80% chance that he can still recover the Bitcoin if the drive is found.
Despite his request being denied every time, he has finally decided to sue Newport city council for $647 million.
