Mount Fuji Stays Snow-Free Breaking 130-Year Record

Mount Fuji in Japan has set a new record by remaining snow-free later into the year than at any time in the past 130 years. This surpasses the previous record from 1894, the earliest year snowfall records began.

Usually covered in snow by early October, Mount Fuji’s peak remains bare this year due to warmer-than-average autumn temperatures, following an exceptionally hot summer. Meteorologists point to these persistent high temperatures as the reason for the delay in snow accumulation on the mountain.
